Ergonomics and human factors evaluations are becoming key factors in order to develop successful products. Nevertheless, industries require the development of methods and techniques capable to reduce the time needed for ergonomic simulations. Therefore digital human models capable of simulating the human behaviour in virtual environment and, at the same time, capable of speeding-up the simulation and analysis process are strongly demanded. This paper addresses the development of an algorithm capable of speeding up the animation process of digital humans and of conducting biomechanical analyses in virtual environment. HuPOSE algorithm is capable of generating human-like postures for human figures, controlling their whole-body motion by means of a limited number of task-related control points. This function seems to be very promising for training applications in assembly lines or in maintenance tasks.
