The main theoretical questions that have been constantly posed in international debate are essentially two: 1) how can firms gain their competitive success, that is to say their sustainable competitive advantage; 2) why do firms exist?. According to the research question, this chapter draws some important conclusions important conclusion: the resource immobility/substitution has to be faced considering its attainment; resource scarcity has to be considered as strictly connected to its functionality;some resources that are inimitable in principle are not copied or duplicated; resources and competences at the network level can have an impact on a firm's performance as well.
