Abstract
The accounting notebook and its secret side effects in the paper world. The account book becomes, in modernist novel, a key metaphor where the orbits of literature (with its increasingly less "useful" pages) and those of the market (with its increasingly binding calculations and laws) intersect. Both paper worlds, formed at the antipodes, yet, in the Copernican revolution of modernity, dangerously similar: mirror-like. The account book of the Svevo’s old men and the papers of Pirandello's Giustino Roncella hide, between the thin lines of scribbling, the seeds of a new novelistic form: a superfluous and directionless production that is activated by that accumulation of accounts, such as unexpected side effects.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
