Sigmund Freud plays a key role in the cultural framework of the “crisis of Europe”, with his mobilisation of the unconscious («Acheronta movebo» is the motto of Die Traumdeutung). The father of psychoanalysis, who died in 1939 as an emigrant in London, was an observer of the pathologies of the individual, but also of the disease of his time (Das Unbehagen in der Kultur, 1930). Freud, a European thinker, is the emblem of a peculiar historical-philosophical constellation, but also the symbol of a possible treatment for Europe. Proof of this can be found in the analyses of great interpreters such as Thomas Mann, Stefan Zweig and Ernesto de Martino.

Abstract
Sigmund Freud plays a key role in the cultural framework of the “crisis of Europe”, with his mobilisation of the unconscious («Acheronta movebo» is the motto of Die Traumdeutung). The father of psychoanalysis, who died in 1939 as an emigrant in London, was an observer of the pathologies of the individual, but also of the disease of his time (Das Unbehagen in der Kultur, 1930). Freud, a European thinker, is the emblem of a peculiar historical-philosophical constellation, but also the symbol of a possible treatment for Europe. Proof of this can be found in the analyses of great interpreters such as Thomas Mann, Stefan Zweig and Ernesto de Martino.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
