The importance assigned by the European Landscape Convention (2000) to the perception officially introduces this knowledge and evaluation category in the planning of landscape heritage preservation and enhancement policies. This research is aimed at providing a semiotic interpretation of the recognizable signs of the landscape and how the signification processes of the perceived image are based on them, in order to outline a methodology of analysis and knowledge based on geometric-visual criteria, which can produce a critical survey of the perceptual qualities of a specific landscape and a consequent evaluation grid of the sustainability of visual impacts determined by the inevitable and continuous transformations of the territory, due to both natural and anthropic factors.

Abstract
The importance assigned by the European Landscape Convention (2000) to the perception officially introduces this knowledge and evaluation category in the planning of landscape heritage preservation and enhancement policies. This research is aimed at providing a semiotic interpretation of the recognizable signs of the landscape and how the signification processes of the perceived image are based on them, in order to outline a methodology of analysis and knowledge based on geometric-visual criteria, which can produce a critical survey of the perceptual qualities of a specific landscape and a consequent evaluation grid of the sustainability of visual impacts determined by the inevitable and continuous transformations of the territory, due to both natural and anthropic factors.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
