Cerreto antica: frammenti di città tra oblio, archeologia e paesaggio

The archaeological site of Cerreto antica, located in the Titerno valley in the Sannio beneventano, is an emblematic case of an urban settlement, abandoned and fallen into oblivion after a devastating earthquake (1688), in which it is still possible to recognise pre-modern construction techniques for seismic prevention. The essay presents a reflection on this case-study, focusing on long-term building phenomena and the current state of conservation, highlighting critical issues and potentialities of this small urban centre of southern Italy. This is an extraordinary research laboratory, also from a comparative perspective, for the study of the historical building site.
