Restoration and “lawful modification” for the military hospital of Naples. From an abandoned ‘giant’ to redevelopment opportunities for the city The Military Hospital of Naples was an important case study for an interdisciplinary research and teaching project in which different branches of knowledge on Architecture, such as Architectural Design and Restoration, work together for the redevelopment of the whole complex. The SS. Trinità delle Monache Convent was built in the early 17th century in Montecalvario district whit the Church – which was built on a project by Francesco Grimaldi and then heavily transformed by Cosimo Fanzago. The Convent is still one of the largest monastic complexes in the city and is a balanced example between building heritage and natural heritage: with 25.000 square meters of buildings from different eras,
