In some mechanical systems such as spool valves, it is possible to observe localized fluid evaporation that produces bubbles that burst and harm the system. Therefore, it is necessary to be able to understand the differences in the functioning of these components when they are affected by cavitation and when they are not. In this study the vibrational study of a proportional spool valve is examined. The changes in operation between cavitation absence, cavitation beginning, and more abrupt cavitation are noted. These differences were evidenced through a frequency analysis of the vibrational signals by means of FFT and Chaos Theory and through parameters that were calculated directly on the variables just mentioned.
