Abstract

The research, born in the field of “inland areas and small cities”, has been contextualized in the abandouned areas and small cities of Irpinia ( Inland area in the Avellino province, south of Italy). The work will be linked with the trigger of development processes based on the cultural characters of the areas, intended as possible focus of their renewed story-telling. A deep knolewdge action will be necessary, that has to be conducted in various fields: geographical, historical, social, economical. Has to be known the history of settlements, civilities, infrastructures, urban tissues of the Irpinia territorial configuration, ancient ways, really known or hypotetical traces based on the essays of the ancient historians, archeologists, passionate scientists. Fascinating is the possibility to reconnect in a unique widespread archaeologycal park the ancient cities settled by the Sanniti, before the roman age: Aeclanum, Aletrium, Compsa, Aquilonia, Trivicum, Murgantia, Aequm Tuticum, trying to identify the misterious Romulea. The reveled ancient roads network will constitute the hidden structure of the widespread archaeologycal park, highliting the geographical configuration of the “pagus”, coherent and wide territorial system of the Sanniti, which the modern territorial networks would have to be inspired. Knowledge actions have to be implemented, organizing seminars inviting archaeologysts, experts, historians, urban planners. Morphologycal and geographical analysis have to be done, followed by an action-research, a collective walk way on the Sanniti’s routes, following the paths of the via Appia, Via Traiana, via Aemilia, via Herculea, involving the civil society, the associations, scholars, university students, to lead collective mapping actions, to know and provide materials, photos, drawings, essays, about the most interesting points, (architectural, landscaping, natural), met along the way. A themathical analysis of these interesting points will allow to configure a masterplan to enhance and enfasize the role and usability of the exhistent archaeologycal parks (Aeclanum, Forum Novum, Compsa), of the museums, like the MAC, recently opened in Carife, even considering the polarities of the supply chains: agri-coltural food chain, industrial chain, ICT chain, with which in the masterplan have to be established relations. During the first fase of the research will be implemented a map, using OSM (Open Street Map), while during the second phase all informations collected in the map will be splitted, identifying some themes, to draw separeted interpretative maps. Multiple goals, linked by the trinomial: knowledge/safeguard/enhancement, will lead to the social usability of the archaelogycal asset, using methodolgies experimented in the field of the public archeology- community archaeology (SAA, Society for American Archaeology). Architecture will contribute to realization of the process: urban project will configure the masterplan of the wide “pagus”, the architectural project will be able to make evidence in the buildings configuration the idea of the general strategy.
