Starting from different premises and reaching equally different conclusions, Ernesto de Martino and Marcel Detienne both perceived in their studies the problem of the relationship between history and comparison. The contrastive analysis of the comparative practices of the two scholars allows not only to assess their different approaches in the context of common theoretical and methodological needs, but also to reflect on the nature and functioning of the comparison as an «experimental method».

Abstract
Starting from different premises and reaching equally different conclusions, Ernesto de Martino and Marcel Detienne both perceived in their studies the problem of the relationship between history and comparison. The contrastive analysis of the comparative practices of the two scholars allows not only to assess their different approaches in the context of common theoretical and methodological needs, but also to reflect on the nature and functioning of the comparison as an «experimental method».File | Dimensione | Formato | |
