DOCUMENTATION METHODS AND TOOLS FOR REFURBISHMENT OF TWENTIETH CENTURY INDUSTRIAL ARCHITECTURE Concrete, the most performative of modern materials, has been widely used in in- dustrial architecture, giving rise to works / icons of modern architecture. «Its mate- rial conservation continues to present us with philosophical, aesthetic, and techni- cal challenges», as Prudon and Normandin claim. If the architects of the twentieth century, through typological and technological experimentation have shown change, the challenge for the professionals of the second millennium is still suspended on the blurred boundary between continuity and change. A more careful and up-to-date work of documentation, on buildings and on reuse and conservation interventions, could be- come an indispensable methodological tool for the recognition of the values of Modern architecture as well as for a more honest and reasoned transformation intervention necessary for its survival.
