The Italian rejoinder to Youth Guarantee

This chapter outlines the Italian rejoinder to Youth Guarantee (YG) by paying due attention to the way in which it is embedded in the national context, historically characterized by high rate of unemployment, economic and financial backwardness and deep territorial differences between the Southern regions and the Northern, more productive.  Firstly, the chapter briefly describes the socio-economic situation with particular reference to the youth situation. Then, following the steps that have led to the actual configuration of the Programme, the chapter deepens our understanding of the governance structure and the management of YG in Italy by underlining some innovative features regarding the cooperation at national and local level aiming at improving the consistency of different actions throughout the national territory
