The history of cities is closely linked to the success of monumental hospitals (MHs). In Naples, MHs are several and varied; however, some recurring elements can be identified, such as the presence of an inner open space, with artistic and environmental value, around which these structures are organized. Over the years, MHs have been partially abandoned, and today are subject to transformations into low-care health facilities: structures close to citizens and with less impact than traditional hospitals.

Abstract
The history of cities is closely linked to the success of monumental hospitals (MHs). In Naples, MHs are several and varied; however, some recurring elements can be identified, such as the presence of an inner open space, with artistic and environmental value, around which these structures are organized. Over the years, MHs have been partially abandoned, and today are subject to transformations into low-care health facilities: structures close to citizens and with less impact than traditional hospitals.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
