A Multidimensional Approach for Cultural Ecosystem Services (CES) Assessment: The Cilento Coast Case Study (Italy)

The evaluation of the Cultural Ecosystem Services represents an evolving research field that analyses the processes of enhancing the landscape and its components. The contribution presents a multidimensional approach for identifying and evaluating the Cultural Ecosystem Services that characterize the coastal strip of Cilento and, specifically, within the Municipality of Camerota, in the South of Italy, and developing a culture-led enhancement strategy. The methodological framework consists of three main phases: the first, knowledge and interpretation, the second evaluation, and the third elaboration of a situated strategy for the Baia degli Infreschi, a natural inlet of great interest in landscape and tourism in the Municipality of Camerota. A Decision Support System has been structured by developing a hybrid evaluative process that combines the SODA approach, the GeoTOPSIS spatial multi-criteria analysis and the ANP multi-criteria method by integrating the principles of Maritime Spatial Planning and the Cultural Ecosystem Services (CES) framework.
