The paper analyses the final part of Himerius’ Or. 40, in which the rhetor briefly relates a tale about Aristotle and Hermias. The aim of the paper is to investigate some important aspects of Himerius’ prose: the use of progymnasmata (in particular the chreia), the use of rhetorical topoi and the use of historical examples. Particular attention is paid to two of Aristotle’s compositions for Hermias and for the city of Atarneus, as mentioned by Himerius.
