Gianni Celati e la "fantasticanza": un viaggio tra invenzione, riscrittura e traduzione

Gianni Celati's works, which comprise novels, short stories, translations, critical essays and documentary films, are characterized by an eclectic experimentalism, founded on "fantasticanza" or rêverie, behind which lies an Eraclitean metamorphism, unique and in perennial change. This metamorphism is the common denominator among invention, rewriting, and translation. Celati chooses to express himself by giving shape to the different kinds of conversation which occur in people's everyday life. He wants to firmly reject any kind of aprioristic mental frame given by mass-mediatic filters. Therefore, his main characters are often presented as mad, aliens, antiheroes, in a world of would-be sane and normal people. Their insanity shows itself through their imaginative talents, their capabilities to evoke other worlds and different dimensions.
