The essay presents the youthful Pontano’s canzoniere Pruritus, partially included in Parthenopeus sive Amorum libri II. Alongside the intertextual dimension of the poems (with at-tention to the beloved models, Catullus and Martial), it investigates the manuscript tradition of Pruritus, which also presents an authoritative autograph manuscript, Cortona, Biblioteca Co-munale e dell’Accademia Etrusca, ms. 84; it highlights the links with the tradition of some ‘extra-wandering’ poems which were not accepted in Pontano’s structured Canzonieri
