The work here presented is part of the research about the decorations and frescoes of Roman villas in the Campania region (Naples-Italy) aimed at documenting the existing cultural-archaeological heritage and analyzing the strong relationships between the architectural project and decorative plant. Starting from the I Pompeian Style (150 BC-80 BC) and up to the 4th Style (50 AD-79 AD) the decoration of the villas follows the logic of the temporal progression both of the phases of construction and restructuring and at the same time connotes so strongly the environments in which it is placed to enhance the qualities of the architectural space by linking different environments in an organic figurative tale. The case study that is proposed is that of the Villa San Marco, in the territory of the ancient Stabiae, 7 km far from the ancient Pompeii. The architectural space is developed around an initial plant, followed by a reorganization that took place during the first century AD, while all the reconstruction and refurbishment works that we trace at the time of the eruption of 79 AD.
