The paper extends to an algebraic variety V of any dimension previous results of the authors for curves and algebraic surfaces. We compute the conductor of the local ring A of V at a singular isolated point with tangent cone consisting of a union of linear varieties. We show that in general the conductor is a power of the maximal ideal of A.

Abstract
