The aim of this essay is to scrutinize Blasius Pelacani of Parma's view on one fundamental question about astronomy, that is the possibility of determining exactly stars locations in the sky, which represents an indispensable condition for astronomical science to be developed. The problem arises because of the unavoidable gap between "verum" and "visibile", caused by the conditions set in the observation of celestial things; hence, the position of the stars and planets is always grasped indirectly, due to several optical phenomena involved between the source of rays and human eye. Pelacani tries to bridge this gap, by making use of optical geometry and its rules, by which it is possible to rectify those illusions caused by "visio".

Abstract
The aim of this essay is to scrutinize Blasius Pelacani of Parma's view on one fundamental question about astronomy, that is the possibility of determining exactly stars locations in the sky, which represents an indispensable condition for astronomical science to be developed. The problem arises because of the unavoidable gap between "verum" and "visibile", caused by the conditions set in the observation of celestial things; hence, the position of the stars and planets is always grasped indirectly, due to several optical phenomena involved between the source of rays and human eye. Pelacani tries to bridge this gap, by making use of optical geometry and its rules, by which it is possible to rectify those illusions caused by "visio".File | Dimensione | Formato | |
