The challenges of climate change adaptation in urban areas involve at various levels the scientific community, public decision makers, designers and planners, called to make a coordinated effort to identify and implement regeneration and retrofitting measures for the built environment oriented towards sustainability and resilience principles The book presents the final outcomes of the research project “Metropolis - Integrated and sustainable methodologies and technologies for the adaptation and safety of urban systems” (PONREC 2007/2013), defining a framework of tools and guidelines for climate risks reduction, useful to implement the appropriate methodological and operational processes needed for the performance control of the interventions at different scales, starting from the modelling of the vulnerability characteristics of the urban system and the simulation of expected climate impact scenarios.
