La voce della Pizia: tra mito, rito e antropologia

As demonstrated by anthropological investigation, the voice meant as vocality, as type of vocality, as well as speech or language, is, together with or alternatively to other body gestures, one of the possible semantic indicators aimed at evincing not only the function of the prophet as an interpreter of the divine will, but also the fidelity with which he reports the revelation received from the god. In the light of this perspective, we wonder which type of vocality is attributed to the Pythia in Greek oracular literature; if the tone of voice of the prophetess helps to point out that it is Apollo speaking through her; how the ancient authors represent this attribution of voice.
