This essay aims at investigating the use of some terms in the Greek versions of 1 Enoch (Book of the Watchers) 7.2 and 9.9 according to both the Gizeh Papyrus (or Panopolitanus) version and the recensio transmitted by Syncellus in his Chronographia Universalis. More specifically, this article analyses the use of Greek terms gigantes and/or titanes-titenes as attested in the preserved Greek versions of 1 Enoch as a means to trace back cultural and/or social environments in which the Greek Enochic translations were originated and found their most ancient cultural-religious background.
