During the excavation works to lay the foundations to build the Exhibition of Terre Italiane d’Oltremare, some ruins of ancient buildings of I-II century A.C were accidentally found (baths, ruins of the Roman aqueduct of Naples and sections of Antiniana way). The discovery was important because justified the choice of Fuorigrotta to host the new building devoted to exhibits. This discovery led to establishing a section dedicated to archaeology: Amedeo Maiuri and Luigi Penta edited the archaeological exhibit and Giuseppe Sepe built a small Archaeological Museum. The new discovery became the main theme ofmedia campaigns. Unfortunately, the war destroyed the north area of the exhibition buildings and part of the Archaeological Area. Some signs this exhibition exist today but this area is mostly forgotten.
