Sistemi innovativi per la rappresentazione delle trasformazioni del costruito storico: la facciata del Duomo di Napoli. Innovative systems for the representation of historical building transformations: the Naples Cathedral facade.

Naples is an highly stratified city, whose urban structure results from the alternation of artifacts and empty spaces and is recognizable in reference to its layout and to some single monuments whose role is fundamental in order to understand the overall image. It is a complex urban landscape that results from an inexorable process of successive adjustments whose representation produces knowledge restituting at the same time memories of the past. The representation produces in fact a synchronic reading of the various configurations that the sites have assumed over time, becoming an expressive sign of the character of the city. The paper present the results of a research concerning the study of the urban space facing the Naples Cathedral, strongly characterized by the presence of the church and by the different configurations that it assumed over time. Bibliographic and archive researches, together with the results of a photogrammetric survey that gave rise to 3D models starting from photos, have been used in order to generate an augmented reality spatial system obtained through innovative techniques of projection mapping.
