The need of a correct evaluation of settlement induced by TBM excavation in weak rocks is par- ticularly high in urban areas, where shallow tunnelling is carried out underneath or in the prox- imity of existing buildings or lifelines. It is worth noticing that the deformation process occur- ring during tunnelling is rather difficult to be reproduced completely in modelling, hence simplifications are needed. This chapter describes existing methodologies to predict the dis- placement generated by excavation with TBM.

Abstract
The need of a correct evaluation of settlement induced by TBM excavation in weak rocks is par- ticularly high in urban areas, where shallow tunnelling is carried out underneath or in the prox- imity of existing buildings or lifelines. It is worth noticing that the deformation process occur- ring during tunnelling is rather difficult to be reproduced completely in modelling, hence simplifications are needed. This chapter describes existing methodologies to predict the dis- placement generated by excavation with TBM.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
