The ‘Absolute Modernity’ or ‘the Fragments and the Ruins’ of Culture: The School in the Time of the De-traditionalization

The papers elaborates on some ideas of Gauchet and Marquard in order to re-think the task of the school and teaching in an epoch that risks sacrificing the idea of modernity (constitutively linked with the project of connecting the old and the new and, thus, preserving a role for tradition) on the altar of up-date-ness (which, in a frantic search for the newest, dooms the old to obsolescence).
