Abstract

The consistency of the sites and morphological architectures railway the complex relationships that they have woven in time with the territory make some real "places" complex, layered and strongly characterized both in character and in the meanings that have changed over time in relation the experience of the traveling and perception of the landscape. Just the character of places connoted by the presence of the railways, provoking a set of emotions, suggestions unrepeatable, is to demonstrate that the use of the technique - and the construction of railways is perhaps the most complex product of the application of modern technology in the territory, from machines to daring works of art for overcoming obstacles - not necessarily produce landscapes "atopic", "non-places" alienating and having no links with topographical contexts. The railway makes it possible to travel at speed of space and, thus, also the experience of travel, without which the very idea of landscape as a common good, would not exist.
