Description of the strategies encoding the relationship between verbs and the core arguments of the clause (S, A, O; cf. Dixon 1994) in Romance. It is shown that three semantic parameters govern the encoding of the categories within the transitivity continuum: control (Lehmann 1988a; Comrie 1989), (lexical and compositional) aspect, and animacy, and their synchronic and diachronic relevance for Romance voice systems is investigated.

Abstract
Description of the strategies encoding the relationship between verbs and the core arguments of the clause (S, A, O; cf. Dixon 1994) in Romance. It is shown that three semantic parameters govern the encoding of the categories within the transitivity continuum: control (Lehmann 1988a; Comrie 1989), (lexical and compositional) aspect, and animacy, and their synchronic and diachronic relevance for Romance voice systems is investigated.File in questo prodotto:
