An analysis of the 1932-33 great Ukrainian famine, against the background of the general Soviet crisis ignited by Stalin's "revolution from above". National, social, behavioral and ideological elements are taken into account, and a comparison is conducted with other major tragedies of those years, including the Kazakh one.
