The essay explore experimentally the improving accessibility of the archaeological site of of Pompeii in the broad sense of adaptation, not only to the instance of the removal of architectural and perceptual barriers, but also to the more general enhancement of the site, one of the most visited in the world. The paper starts from the outcomes of the research Accessible Pompeii. Guidelines for an expanded use of the site, which I coordinated from July 2011 until January 2013, funded by the University of Naples "Federico II". The research methodology started from a survey on the “state of the art” about the subject, a careful analysis of the actual state of some selected areas, chosen as study-cases, arriving to identify the main morphological and material critical for an expanded use of the site of Pompeii, and the strategic nodes to implement to support the fruition and enhancement
