Abstract

The area of Gaiola is the southern spur of the Regional Park of Campi Flegrei, with an area of full reserve and a protected area. Over the entire area, including the stretch of sea off the promontory of Posillipo, was established the Archaeological Park of Gaiola Marino, a park of national importance for environmental and archaeological assets. Since 2006, the city administration has implemented three integrated projects aimed both at improving pedestrian accessibility, and supply of tourism services and for the use of architectural and historic landscape sites. The sustainable actions have provided to reduce the consumption of material resources and the search for durable solutions techniques, alongside the use of local materials such as tuff and lava stone, either natural or cement-based composites, the latter with better performance of reliability and durability. The site can be reached with difficulty by sea and this condition has suggested the use of light and dematerialized technologies, not to engrave with costly transport, providing a low impact on the environment and an optimization of the use of building materials. The sustainability objectives were also pursued with the use of local workers, considering the enhancement of skills and technical knowledge.
