Manutenzione e gestione del patrimonio culturale delle aree cimiteriali di Napoli. Monitoraggio ambientale delle catacombe di San Gennaro e San Gaudioso

A progressive maturation of the strategic approach to the conservation and protection of the heritage of historic centers, allows to experiment methodologies and tools to assess the choice of enhancement of the architectural heritage. Assuming that the knowledge activity have an important role in the culture of building rehabilitation, experimental procedures are developed for the ongoing supervision of the physical quantities, characterizing significant confined spaces underground. So a path to define experimental monitoring campaigns is examined for the evaluation of environmental quality in confined spaces, to return information on pollutant and analytical parameters to recognize the evolution degradation processes. The study analyzes the basement of the historic center of Naples, in particular, the Catacombs of Saint Gennaro and Saint Gaudioso and suggests procedures for acquisition of environmental parameters in the confined space underground. The aim of the study is to support the decisions aimed to include these spaces in a new usability circuit which provides for the development for tourism purposes.
