Starting from the different perspectives offered on the issue of the relationship between identity and context, we propose the identity like a semiotic system of boundary that translates signs and which is activated in the intersubjective context. The context, likewise identity, is not a fixed set of signs and defined once and for all but it is a system that shows itself only from the contingent and local activation. The relationship between identity and context is regulated by a continuous and endless process of sensemaking that time to time changes and makes variable semiotic space of translation, sharing and transformation.

Abstract

Starting from the different perspectives offered on the issue of the relationship between identity and context, we propose the identity like a semiotic system of boundary that translates signs and which is activated in the intersubjective context. The context, likewise identity, is not a fixed set of signs and defined once and for all but it is a system that shows itself only from the contingent and local activation. The relationship between identity and context is regulated by a continuous and endless process of sensemaking that time to time changes and makes variable semiotic space of translation, sharing and transformation.
