Urban poverty today: the Italian North-South divisions in comparative perspective

Societies are changing fast and are troubled by transformations that lead to increasing social heterogeneity and instability, growing social and space inequalities. Moreover the economic crisis that has hit particularly the industrialized countries starting in 2008 appears to be long lasting and to produce serious social difficulties. The seminar is oriented to present some of the main theoretical and methodological issues raised in the recent debates on social change and the dynamic and diversity of capitalism with a specific focus on local and urban systems and new space and social inequalities.
