This project has been developed by the group led by Valeria Pezza (with C. Orfeo, E.Cecchi, S.D'Ajello Caracciolo F. Ferranti, coll. L. Coccia, C. Curcio), it was the basis for a program agreed and signed between the City of Naples, Campania Region, Federico II University, Naples Port Authority and the coastal state property, aimed at the implementation of interventions for the requalification of degraded and marginal parts of city with the creation of new university premises, a head subway station on line 2, a marina for 500 boats and the related public facilities. The project area is located on a side of the port of Naples, it is crossed and divided throughout its length by a national railway line that runs parallel to the sea, and to the axis of the historic road, the ancient road that led to Calabria, the Golden Mile Course, today corso San Giovanni a Teduccio. The plan's design incorporates the tracks and the sense of territorial design and proposes the strengthening of it, through the composition of two pairs of axes extracted from historical territory. The first pair of axis is linked to the neighbourhood of Barra and its orthogonal, via Bernardo Quaranta, which defines the position and orientation of the marina. The marina is the element of most immediate visibility even on a large scale and is defined by a long brakewater wall, inside it car parking space Is obtained, and on the top of it a public panoramic walk. Along this brakewater wall stand the docks, parallel to the coastline and lined with the buildings of the shipyard located on the opposite side of the stretch of water in front of the Corradini plant and consisting of a sequence of large aisles between land and water intended to revive the character of the beautiful buildings of the Arsenale in Venice.
