Abstract

For over two decades are developed experimental systems to introduce new ways of enjoying cultural heritage. In this testing ground technology had a lead role, often to the detriment of contents, increasing the need of defining new way of communication in sync with contemporary iconography culture. Most applications aimed at creating online catalogs that allow free admission to informations, databank and online file, and consent cultural heritage’s home study, promoting dissemination of knowledge. To these applications, now sufficiently mature, other one are added, that aim at defining new ways of cultural enjoyment. The theme proposed by scientific research of Naples has as its object the study of submerged archaeological heritage of Campi Flegrei and of its connections with archaeological areas. In this context the phenomenon of negative or positive territorial bradyseism set rapid changes over the centuries with the collapse of ancient coastline and submersion of all buildings built on this area. The result is that sites of great value, such as Miseno’s seaport, whit the Roman navy, and old town of Baia are now largely submerged. So the archaeological finds are hardly accessible, with an objective difficulty in finding the same frame in a broader context. The object is to develop a new level of knowledge that increase the value of the archaeological find and of its understanding. The choice of the study area of Campi Flegrei presents many problems so as to encourage experimentation from different point of view: - against a rich natural, archaeological and historic heritage, the area is characterized by an widespread environmental damage and so it’s necessary the identification of appropriate strategies for environmental restoration; - cultural heritage management doesn’t appear integrate so it’s necessary create a knowledge network that promotes the exchange and aims to overcome the communication gap linked to the spread of archaeological heritage; - the difficulty archaeological find enjoying is added to the other one that many of the archaeological find are underwater, which makes it more necessary than in other cases the definition of a cultural product that transforms heritage in knowledge; The main objectives of the research are: - build an interactive map of the archaeological area of Campi Flegrei; - explore new methods for the survey, analysis and representation of underwater archaeological finds. - Identify new communications codes for the use of archaeological heritage (virtual archaeology).
