A robotic application, developed at DiME is presented. The application mainly consists in a revolute robot equipped with a laser scanner system and a cutting mill. The laser scanner is used to scan any surface of an object that must be reproduced. Then a cloud of points is obtained and, from this cloud, the data are processed in order to obtain the trajectory of the end effector; the latter is a cutting mill that, in any desired scale, can reproduce the surface or a mould of the object. The trajectories are planned by means of a algorithm also developed at DiME.

Abstract

A robotic application, developed at DiME is presented. The application mainly consists in a revolute robot equipped with a laser scanner system and a cutting mill. The laser scanner is used to scan any surface of an object that must be reproduced. Then a cloud of points is obtained and, from this cloud, the data are processed in order to obtain the trajectory of the end effector; the latter is a cutting mill that, in any desired scale, can reproduce the surface or a mould of the object. The trajectories are planned by means of a algorithm also developed at DiME.
