The solubilities of methane and ethane in aqueous solutions of hexamethylenetetramine have been studied in order to evaluate the hydrophobic effect according to the Ben-Naim model. The effect of hexamethylonetetramine, a molecule extensively hydrated, results in a reinforcing of hydrophobic interactions; this fact is related to the poor effectiveness of hexamethylenetetramine in the denaturing processes of biomacromolecules. © 1979 American Chemical Society.

Abstract
The solubilities of methane and ethane in aqueous solutions of hexamethylenetetramine have been studied in order to evaluate the hydrophobic effect according to the Ben-Naim model. The effect of hexamethylonetetramine, a molecule extensively hydrated, results in a reinforcing of hydrophobic interactions; this fact is related to the poor effectiveness of hexamethylenetetramine in the denaturing processes of biomacromolecules. © 1979 American Chemical Society.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
