Analysis of the geoenvironmental conditions as morphological evolution factors of the sand-clay series of the Tiberine valley and of the Dunarobba forest preservation

We present a multidisciplinary study performed in different areas of the Umbria Tiberina Valley (Umbertide, Todi, Dunarobba and Spoleto), with the aim to understand the underground water circulation network and to define the buried rock structural setting, which allowed for the preservation of the unaltered wood from many tree trunks in Dunarobba area, located near the village of Avigliano (Terni, central Italy). The results of geological, hydrogeological, geophysical and geochemical investigations allow us to formulate a preliminary interpretative model of the Tiberine basin.
