Education is a legitimated form of social practice which can be situated among a group of practices aimed at promoting human and social development. These practices, intended as devices of coscientization and reflection, may include theather and other forms of dramatic arts. The epistemology of educational practice is characterized by a specific intentionality aimed at promoting growth and change in individuals and groups. Educational practices may be situated within formal, non formal and informal dimensions of lifelong learning and this opens up a framework of dialogue with other practices involved in the above mentioned dimensions. On these basis it is possibile to work out a reflection on the encounter of different epistemologies of practice involving both education and theater.
