3D Digital Reconstruction of a Cultural Heritage Marble Sculpture

Nowadays, cultural heritage digitization is becoming more important for artefacts cataloguing, digital memory, monitoring, reproduction, digital analysis, digital simulation, computer-aided repair as well as virtual museum creation based on 3D digital models of the artefacts. In this paper, the 3D digital reconstruction of a marble sculpture was carried out using a 3D laser scanning system. A reverse engineering software was utilized for 3D digital model reconstruction and comparison with the acquired point cloud.
