On this basis, our research is aimed to understand the necessity of treating patients with mild subclinical Hypo, and to evaluate the potential benefit of combined treatment with LT4–LT3 in patients with overt and subclinical Hypo. Methods: A total of 400 patients with a diagnosis of subclinical or overt primary Hypo, untreated until study entry, will be separately enrolled in this study. A randomized double-blind placebo controlled design will be used for these patients to establish whether replacement therapy improves tissue parameters, quality of life and mood, and to compare the effects of LT4 therapy plus placebo vs LT4 plus LT3
