English for Business Communication aims at providing the students with the practical ability «to do» things in Business English: preparing case studies in English, reading graphs, interpreting data, filling out forms, writing commercial letters, résumés and compiling financial statements. Glossaries of specialised terms have been included to complete various sections. This textbook is a tool which can be used profitably both in the workplace and the university. The topics chosen and the approach adopted lead to multidisciplinary learning. The references to marketing, business economics, accountancy and the internet provide the material for the practical acquisition and eventual mastery of Business English. From a scientific point of view this book aims at providing a brief overview of the usage of ESP, in some specific areas of business, like marketing, accountancy and organization. From a pragmatic point of view, this is book represents a good tool to integrate students’ knowledge with the work environment. A few business English books in Italy deal with practical issues like financial reporting and data interpretation. Most students at the end of their academic path are not able to work with bank everyday operation or import – export operation as well. This book aims at overcoming the classic paradigm of “theory learning, no practical application”; it aims at providing the real tools useful in the everyday work environment.
