The bay is enclosed between the Punta del Capo Campanella to the South and Capo Miseno to the North. The Vesuvius on East and the islands of Ischia, Procida and Capri close the bay. Naples is a metropolitan town of about 2 millions of inhabitants and with a very large historical centre about 750 hectares. Certainly one of the largest historical town in Europe, that in the year 1995 has been inserted in the W.H.L. of UNESCO for the safeguard of urban Heritage. The City of Naples has at present the General Plan of Safeguard approved in the years 1998-99 by the Municipality. The historical centre is located into the perimeter of the UNESCO site (750 hectares), and it includes the Greek-Roman town (160 hectares). This area is the original founded town, with the three plateais-decumanus East-West. The paper presents the rehabilitation project of the Municipality mobility of the city in the 2000s until today (2000-2009), the new transportation plan for Naples and its impact on the historical town.
