This paper is concerned with the problem of resource allocation in networks. An innovative strategy is proposed based on the use of an appropriate competitive model describing the variation in the resource quotas allocated to each user. It is shown that by using this model, resource manager can plan ``pricing'' strategies to better allocate the available resource among competing users. Simulations are presented to support the theoretical discussion. Three possible applications to communications networks are discussed.

Abstract
This paper is concerned with the problem of resource allocation in networks. An innovative strategy is proposed based on the use of an appropriate competitive model describing the variation in the resource quotas allocated to each user. It is shown that by using this model, resource manager can plan ``pricing'' strategies to better allocate the available resource among competing users. Simulations are presented to support the theoretical discussion. Three possible applications to communications networks are discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
