The project takes the local context to be a superordinate class organiser of processes classifying the levels of belonging and otherness which outline social identity and, specifically, role and community identity; in particular the work analyses classification systems which sustain representations of self and "other" in relation to specific contexts implicating different levels of sharing, participation and reciprocity. With the same logic, it is desired to investigate intervention models realised in research contexts in order to favour the integration of foreigners in host communities. The project proposes an approach to interethnic relations when these occur within a defined local context and intends to analyse their evolution in relation to the territorial development and the creation of shared objectives. Assuming that belonging to the local context to be a superordinate category (Gaertner, Dovidio, 2000; Dovidio Gaertner 2005a, 2005b) between different ethnic groups, the research project aims at promoting local planning strategies as expedients to be able to establish forms of social cohabitation which tend towards a shared objective. The study will then examine forms of sharing between subjects from different groups, "strangers" to one another starting from a wide territorial positioning to more specific positioning relative to contexts which define specific role identities such as within education - where participants share the role of parents - to the examination of associative contexts which imply a more direct personal engagement to the problems of integration. The city of Naples is the local context in which three different levels will be considered: living; educational and associative in two different territorial areas.
