The major expansion, since the last vesuvian eruption occurred in the 1944, in the Neapolitan urban zone has substantially increased the risk from the eruptive activity, not only from Vesuvius but also from the adjacent Campi Flegrei and Ischia volcanoes. There is a wide and continuous urban belt from Castellammare to Pozzuoli with a current population of 1.5 million living in the environs of this dangerous and active volcanoes, thus increasing the vulnerability. During an eruption or in the case of a pre-eruptive alarm, the population at risk should be evacuated and leads in safe areas. Communications in the Neapolitan area are essentially train services to Rome and to the South (Reggio Calabria and Potenza), good connections by autostrada and maritime transports from the numerous harbours are located along the Tyrrhenian coast. Due to its close proximity to multiple volcanic source and the large areas affected by volcanic hazards, this populated urban area is at risk from more than one volcano. We will be able to define some more recurrent eruptive scenarios and identify the portions of the Neapolitan-phlegraean territory that are more prone to the combined effects of the Vesuvius, Campi Flegrei and Ischia eruptions. Then we have the specific intention to verify the ability of maritime evacuation of the resident population.
