The main scope of the present project is the development and the application of intelligent sensing techniques and systems for sensor monitoring during machining operations with particular reference to tool condition monitoring and control. Particular attention will be dedicated to advanced techniques for sensor signal processing (feature extraction for pattern recognition), to the synergic integration of information simultaneously obtained from multiple sensors of different nature (sensor fusion) and to automatic decision making procedures through intelligent computation methods.
