This paper intends to highlight the characteristics of war reports on the basis of a large corpus composed of monographs and news reports dealing with the recent conflicts in former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and the Middle East. The discursive construction and rhetorical strategies of war reports are investigated with particular regard to dichotomy, dramatisation, metaphor, irony and depersonalization.
